How We are Funded

DHOL began as an unincorporated organization — a non-exempt, non-reporting, non-profit.  As of January 1, 2021 we are our own 501c3 non-profit organization. We are currently operating on grants we receive from foundations supporting our work and on generous donations from the community. We are seeking grants and other funding from various sources, and we welcome contributions, which will enable us to cover our expenses and keep doing this work!

You can contact us by phone (720-940-5291) or email (info@denverhomelessoutloud.org) to talk about this.

  1. You guys are pathetic. Instead of supporting the homeless why don’t you try to help them see that they can work and make a living like the rest of us have to. As long as people are giving them money they will never change. Most of them don’t even want a job. Hell I have tried to give them food a couple of times, only to have them throw it back at me or drop it on the ground right beside my car. You can’t help people that won’t help their self. All you are doing is making this city look like the dump that it is.

    1. You are a very opinionated person Jared. Not everyone is dealt the same hand in life. Most jobs require that individuals have legitimate addresses before they will hire them. You are lumping all homeless people into one easy-to-define category so that you can legitimize your prejudice and hatred towards them. YOUR mind is The Dump, not the city of Denver or the homeless people in it. YOU ARE PATHETIC, and it is clear that your mentality is brought on by your own inner turmoil. Seek help

  2. Millionaires from the suburbs subisdize trashy criminals destroying downtown under the guise of “helping”… So progressive. What a terrible organization helping keep people dependant and freeloading on the streets while undermining the success of hardworking and honest people – these homeless bums are mostly WHITE MEN!!!! put that in your feminst-race-baiting bra and smoke it!

  3. Enough. Ive lived near Capitol Hill for 12 years and have never seen a crisis get so out of hands. I find your advocacy group either naive or dishonest. Most of the “unhoused” do not want to go to a shelter. Many are unhinged, junkies, or, at best, too lazy to work and empowered by advocacy groups to get free food and tents. Enough is enough. The city can barely keep up with the rising crime and all the trash around these illegal encampments. Illegal camps should be banned, period, and those in violation go to jail, rehab, or a shelter (and no, don’t even get me started with the “shelter is not up to their dignity” thing. It’s a shelter. Take it or leave it.

  4. I parked in the lot adjacent to your office for years. I have seen your advocacy work for years and been told of it periodically as well from local unhoused folks. My regret is that your efforts are frequently ignored or dismissed, by both people in the Denver as well as those in positions of authority within the city. Thank you for trying to reduce the suffering the homeless in this city, and for trying to get them out of a cycle of housing insecurity
