Denver Homeless Out Loud had a table at Project Homeless Connect 13 (a gathering of thousands of people and resources) on September 17th, 2013. We had information available on the Homeless Bill of Rights under consideration in California, Hygiene Centers in Seattle and Honolulu, Tiny Houses in Madison, and Tent Cities in Portland and Seattle. People also gave us feed back on what projects – out of a list of 26 projects such as hygiene centers, tiny houses, more emergency shelter beds – would be most important to them. And most important we invited all to join the work of DHOL to amplify the voice of people who are homeless and strive to create a world where all people have a place to call home.
The top 6 projects that got the most checks are as follows:
77 Denver homeless card (access to public transportation, rec centers etc… at no cost)
77 Emergency Shelter space
77 Hygene center
75 Permanent Housing
68 Homeless Bill of rights
67 Safe outdoor Space
